Alcohol-free Sangría: Mūn Sangría Floral with Flowers Kombucha

Sangría sin alcohol: Mūn Sangría Floral con Flowers Kombucha

Alcohol-free sangria: Mūn Sangría Floral with Flowers Kombucha is the alcohol-free version of classic sangria, with white grape, elderflower, fresh fruit salad, cinnamon and orange. Refreshing, light and suitable for driving.

What is Mūn Sangría Floral

It's an alcohol-free sangria designed for long summer mealtimes. The base is Mūn Flowers Kombucha, a premium fermented tea with grape and elderflower. These two ingredients are already in the traditional recipe (grape as juice, elderflower in many homemade vermouths), so the result has the aromatic complexity of a cellar sangria without a single gram of alcohol.

It serves 4 people, takes 10 minutes to prepare and needs 2 hours of cold maceration for the fruit to release its juices.

Why alcohol-free sangria

Traditional sangria has around 7-10% alcohol from wine and added liqueur. This rules out drivers, pregnant people, minors and those undergoing medical treatment. The kombucha version maintains the ritual (jug, floating fruit, wooden spoon, shared glasses) without the drawbacks.

NoLo (No/Low alcohol) drinks are growing by 25% annually in Spain. Well-made alcohol-free sangria is not a "fruit soft drink": it's a complete cocktail, with acidity, controlled sweetness, body and floral notes.

Ingredients (for 1 jug, 4 people)

  • 1 bottle (500 ml) of cold Mūn Flowers Kombucha
  • 250 ml of 100% white grape juice (no added sugar)
  • 1 orange, thinly sliced
  • 1 red apple, diced
  • 1 peach, sliced (or nectarine)
  • 8 strawberries, halved
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 4-5 fresh mint leaves
  • Plenty of ice when serving

Step-by-step preparation

  1. Prepare the fruit: wash everything, thinly slice the orange (with skin if organic), dice the apple into small pieces, slice the peach, halve the strawberries.
  2. Cold maceration: put all the fruit in a large glass jug with the white grape juice, cinnamon stick and mint leaves. Cover with cling film and leave in the fridge for a minimum of 2 hours (ideally 4 hours).
  3. Add Flowers Kombucha: just before serving, pour the cold bottle of Mūn Flowers Kombucha over the maceration. Stir gently with a long spoon, so as not to break the fruit.
  4. Serve: in tall glasses with plenty of ice, distributing fruit into each glass.

Timings

Preparation: 10 minutes. Maceration: 2 hours minimum. Total time: 2 h 30 min. Storage: 24 h in the fridge (afterwards the fruit becomes too soft).

Why Flowers Kombucha is the perfect base

Mūn Flowers Kombucha ferments green tea with grape and elderflower. The grape provides the aromatic profile of white wine without ethanol. The elderflower provides the floral notes that in a traditional sangria would come from vermouth or a touch of elderflower liqueur. Result: the sangria tastes like sangria, not a fruit soft drink.

Furthermore, Flowers Kombucha retains the organic acids from fermentation (acetic, gluconic, lactic), which give that characteristic dry bitterness of wine. Without them, the mixture would be flat.

Variations

Mūn Sangría Floral with alcohol-free cava

Substitute 250 ml of Flowers with cold 0.0 cava. More fizz, less body.

Red Mūn Sangría Floral

Change white grape juice for red grape juice or pomegranate juice. More colour, more intense flavour.

Extra Fruity Mūn Sangría Floral

Add raspberries, blueberries and kiwi. Plenty of fruit salad.

Spiced Mūn Sangría Floral

Add star anise, cloves and lemon peel. More wintery, perfect for long mealtimes.

Mūn Sangría Floral with Hibiscus

Mix 250 ml Flowers + 250 ml Hibiscus Kombucha. Intense pink colour, notes of hibiscus and red berries.

Mūn Sangría Floral mini-batch

For 1 person: 125 ml Flowers + 60 ml grape juice + individual fruit salad in a balloon glass.

Common mistakes

  • Adding the kombucha at the beginning: it loses its fizz during the 2 hours of maceration. Always add it at the end.
  • Using unmacerated fruit: it will taste like water with fruit. The prior maceration is what makes the sangria.
  • Cutting the fruit too large: small pieces release more juice and fit on the spoon when serving.
  • Adding sugar: the grape juice and fruit already provide enough sweetness. If you want more, add a spoonful of honey.
  • Serving without ice: alcohol-free sangria requires more chill than traditional sangria. Plenty of ice or a pre-chilled jug.

FAQ

Is it 100% alcohol-free?

Kombucha contains less than 0.5% residual alcohol (the same level as freshly baked bread or natural juice). Under Spanish and European regulations, it is considered an alcohol-free drink.

Can pregnant people drink it?

Consult your doctor. In general, drinks with less than 0.5% (including kefir and kombucha) are considered safe, but each case is individual.

How long does it last once prepared?

24 hours in the fridge. Afterwards, the fruit softens and the kombucha loses its fizz.

Can I prepare it with another Mūn kombucha?

Yes. Flowers is the closest to the sangria profile due to the grape and elderflower, but Hibiscus works for a pink version and Verbena for a more herbal version.

How many calories does it have?

Approximately 70 kcal per glass (vs 180-220 kcal for a traditional sangria with wine and liqueur).

Can it be made in a large jug for a party?

Yes. Multiply by the number of diners /4. For 8 people: 1 L of Flowers + 500 ml grape juice + double the fruit. Macerate in a 2 L jug or a large covered salad bowl.

When to serve it

Long summer meals on the terrace, barbecues, Sunday paellas, picnics, dinners with children, designated drivers, pregnant people, mealtimes that don't want to end in a forced nap. Also as a welcome drink at weddings and daytime events.
