Fermented Iced Coffee: Cold Brew with Mūn Gut Morning Radikal

Cold Brew con Mūn Gut Morning Radikal 250 ml

Homemade iced coffee in less than three minutes, without a machine, without bitterness and with a fermented touch different from any cold brew you've ever tasted. The base is a cold can of Mūn Gut Morning Radikal: kombucha + ready coffee, ice and, if you like, a splash of milk or plant-based drink. This is the fastest recipe on the blog and the one that works best to replace industrial coffee from the nearby cafeteria.

What is Mūn Gut Morning Radikal

Gut Morning Radikal is the Mūn can that combines fermented kombucha with specialty Arabica coffee in cold brew. It is not a sparkling coffee or a soft drink: it is a tea fermented for 14 days to which cold-extracted coffee is added. The result is a full-bodied, lightly effervescent drink, with no added sugars and with the natural caffeine from coffee (around 80 mg per 250 ml can).

It comes already prepared in a 250 ml recyclable aluminum can. You just have to open it, serve it well chilled and, optionally, make it into iced coffee with ice and milk.

Ingredients (1 tall glass)

  • 1 can of Mūn Gut Morning Radikal (250 ml), well chilled
  • Large ice cubes (4-6 cubes)
  • 100 ml of milk or plant-based drink (oat, almond, soy) — optional
  • Date syrup, raw honey or ground cinnamon — optional, to taste
  • 1 cinnamon stick or coffee beans for garnish — optional

Step-by-step preparation

  1. Chill the can for at least 4 hours in the refrigerator. It's best to always store it there: iced coffee requires a truly cold temperature, not lukewarm.
  2. Fill the tall glass with ice up to two-thirds. Large ice cubes melt slower and will not water down the drink.
  3. Open the can and pour the Gut Morning over the ice, slowly, allowing the natural foam to settle.
  4. Add the milk (if using) on top: it will fall in layers, forming a dark gradient at the bottom and cream at the top. Stirring is optional.
  5. Garnish with a little ground cinnamon, cocoa or a cinnamon stick. Serve immediately.

Why Gut Morning Radikal and not a classic cold brew

A traditional cold brew requires 12-24 hours of cold infusion and subsequent filtering. Gut Morning saves you the entire process because it comes already fermented and cold-extracted. Additionally, the kombucha base provides three things that coffee alone does not have:

  • Organic acids from fermentation (acetic, gluconic) which soften the astringency of coffee.
  • Natural fizz, light, which lightens the drink without the need to add sparkling water.
  • Zero added sugars: industrial cold coffee usually contains 15-20 g of sugar per glass; here there are none.

Variations

  • Oat latte cold: 250 ml Gut Morning + 100 ml Barista oat drink + ice. The oat drink emulsifies and remains creamy without being heavy.
  • Vanilla: add 2-3 drops of natural vanilla extract and half a teaspoon of date syrup. Tastes like ice cream parlor coffee.
  • Fermented Espresso tonic: 150 ml Gut Morning + 100 ml dry tonic + lemon peel. Bubbly, elegantly bitter.
  • Iced mocha: one teaspoon of unsweetened pure cocoa dissolved in 30 ml of hot water, chilled, mixed with the can and ice.
  • Salted caramel: a pinch of Maldon salt and half a teaspoon of date syrup over the foam.
  • Frozen blend: blend the entire can with a handful of ice in the blender for 20 seconds. Fermented cold brew slushie.

Common mistakes

  • Serving without chilling the can: if the can is at room temperature, the ice melts in seconds and waters down the coffee. Can always in the refrigerator.
  • Too much crushed ice: frosty ice waters down the drink in one minute. Use large cubes.
  • Sweetening before tasting: Gut Morning already has body and natural sweetness from the Arabica coffee. Taste first and add later if desired.
  • Stirring too much: if you like the layered latte visual effect, do not stir. If you prefer a homogeneous flavor, one stir is enough.
  • Mixing with hot milk: it breaks the kombucha and kills the fizz. Milk always cold.

FAQ

Does it contain caffeine? Yes, approximately 80 mg per 250 ml can, equivalent to a single espresso. The caffeine comes from Arabica coffee, not an added extract.

Can it be consumed at night? It is not recommended if you are sensitive to caffeine. Gut Morning is intended for morning, mid-morning, or early afternoon. For evening, try a coffee-free kombucha like Mūn Premium Original.

How long does it last once opened? Like any sparkling kombucha, it loses its fizz in a few hours. Ideally, consume it immediately. If there's any left, cover it and store it in the refrigerator for a maximum of 24 hours.

Is it suitable for vegans? Yes, the Gut Morning can is 100% plant-based. If you add milk, choose a plant-based drink.

Can it be consumed on an empty stomach? Yes, many people drink it upon waking. Fermentation pre-digests part of the tea, and the acidity is mild. If you have a very sensitive stomach, accompany it with something solid.

Does it contain added sugar? No. The only sugar it contains is residual from tea fermentation, in low quantities (less than 3 g per can).

When to drink it

Homemade iced coffee with Gut Morning fits into three key moments:

  • Breakfast: alone or with avocado toast. Replaces industrial coffee with milk.
  • Mid-morning: when the first coffee has worn off and you need energy without a second espresso.
  • Post-workout: the combination of moderate caffeine, organic acids, and zero sugar works well after cardio or weights.
